Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn was on the road last week for three girls' basketball games and came up short in all of them. The Hawks ended the week with a 55-45 loss to MMCRU in War Eagle Conference play on Jan. 13 at Marcus. A slow start to both halves proved to be H-M-S's downfall. The animals were displayed at Ketelsen Hardware. Acting on immediate instructions of the owners, Orlo Abrahams loaded the merchandise of the local Army-Navy Surplus Store and left for Yankton, S.D. One area sports-related event in 2022 that will impact Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn is the exit of one member of the War Eagle Conference and its replacement by a school currently in the Siouxland Conference.
