A Sioux Center firm was hired to provide electrical engineering services for updates to parking lots and ball diamonds at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School. It isn’t often that a group attending a city council meeting offers to help finance community projects rather than request funds from the municipality. But that was the case at Royal this month. Rates that the City of Royal will pay for solid waste collection and law enforcement coverage will increase next year. The city’s contract with Town & Country Disposal expires on Dec. 1. They are proposing a 3 percent increase each year for the next five years.
