Connor Dodd finished second in the Class C 100 meter dash, recording a time of :11.71. He was just four-hundredths of a second behind Keaton Bonderson, of Gehlen Catholic. The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls' track and field team competed twice last week, at the Unity Christian Coed Invitational on April 12 at Northwestern College in Orange City, and at the Spencer Girls' Invitational on April 16 at Spencer. • April 11, 1946 The O’Brien County Co-op Wool Growers’ Association pooled their first load of wool for the 1946 season. Approximately 5,000 pounds of wool were shipped to the Iowa Sheep and Wool Growers’ Cooperative in Des Moines. O’Brien County was one of the leading counties in the number of pounds of wool marketed through the cooperative. The administrative team at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Community School is complete following the hiring of two principals on Monday. Ashley Benz will be the new principal at H-M-S Elementary. Currently an instructional coach in the district, she will succeed Cathy Jochims, who is retiring at the end of the school year. A pair of early-season outdoor meets gave the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys' track and field team its first taste of competition for the 2021 season. Mark Dorhout, who has been middle school principal at H-M-S since 2004, has accepted a middle school science teaching position at the Panorama Community School District in Panora.
