The meatpacking industry is returning to Hartley. Hartley Cold Services, LLC, has taken ownership of the building formerly owned by Beef Specialists of Iowa on Second Street Southeast. A schedule dotted with new events will greet guests during Everly Community Days next weekend. This year's edition was a labor of love. The Hartley City Council on Monday heard an update on a project that will improve existing infrastructure on the east side of town. Engineer Wes Boyer, of Bolton & Menk, said work on the cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) lining project is slated to start in December. The scope of the project will affect 11,000 feet of pipe and 46 manholes. "It's really not a problem to be doing it in the winter. They do it regularly because the pipes are underground and fairly protected from temperatures," Boyer said....
Water fights in Hartley tonight The Hartley Fire Department will hold its annual adult and kids’ water fights on Thursday, Aug. 11 (tonight) on Central Avenue. July was a busy month at the Everly Public Library. As of July 1, Christie Seivert took over as the director. She is not a stranger to the library, as many patrons have seen her during programs. She brings with her a love of reading and a wealth of knowledge about books. The summer reading program ran for three weeks in July.
