The Everly City Council on Aug. 19 discussed additional grant opportunities to purchase flood mitigation equipment and emergency supplies. The FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) in Cherokee and Emmet counties closed permanently on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Robin Schmidt Lane, 59, of Lyons, Neb., passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at her home. Robin was the daughter of Robert and Audrey Schmidt, of Hartley. She was born on Oct. 17, 1964. She graduated from Hartley-Melvin High School and went to Western Iowa Tech Community College for training as a surgical technician. She worked various jobs.
