David Earl Jacobs was born May 31, 1944. He was the eldest of six children born to Earl E. and Merna L. (Klatt) Jacobs. He attended the Melvin school district most of his school years but in his junior year his parents relocated to the Hartley school district. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1962. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recently released between 1,000-2,000 rainbow trout at Scharnberg Pond southeast of Everly. The stocking was part of its cool weather trout program that brings trout to areas that cannot support them during the summer. All fall community trout stockings are now complete.
