• Sept. 5, 1946 The local school was fairly bursting at the seams with an increased enrollment in practically every grade. It was believed that the freshman enrollment of 60 was a record for any single class. There were 452 pupils enrolled in the Hartley Public School. Century Mutual Insurance Association on Aug. 25 held its 29th Annual Firemen's Golf Benefit Tournament. This year's event was held at the Primghar Golf and Country Club in Primghar. Century Mutual sponsored the event, with all entry fees from the teams being distributed to the fire department of their choice. Ninety-two golfers comprising 23 teams teed off. Clay Central/Everly on Monday invited families, students, staff and the community to its 2021-22 school year open house. Families walked through the classrooms seeing all of the new additions and familiar comforts that CC/E has to offer. As they toured the grounds, they also met staff and greeted teachers before heading to the new playground for a picnic. O’Brien County Relay For Life raises $20K The 2021 O’Brien County Relay For Life on Aug. 10 raised $20,671 for the American Cancer Society’s advocacy, education, patient services and research programs. The event was held at Northwest Iowa Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center on the campus of NCC in Sheldon. One of the highlights of the Relay For Life is the luminaria ceremony. Fundraising efforts for Hartley's new pool received a groundswell of support during Summer Celebration.
