Small proves beneficial for CC/E when reopening during a pandemic
"Onward Mavericks, Onward Mavericks, our spirit is our fame!"
These fight song lyrics could not be truer as the Clay Central/Everly school district welcomes back children amidst the current pandemic.
CC/E's current class sizes make social distancing a breeze and benefit not only the students' safety, but also the teacher and faculty's safety as well. Two grades will be paired together to enter in and out of lunch areas, recesses and small groups to adhere to CDC recommendations and American Academy of Pediatrics suggestions. This minimalizes contamination and the potential for spread, facilitates socialization with more than just one grade group, and allows all health requirements to be met and maintained.
This week started with Monday being one-on-one parent/teacher conferences with parents, guardians and students meeting individually with teachers to learn what to do given a positive in-school case, if school must go fully online, how to utilize online resources, district policies and more. Students started full classes on Tuesday.
Clay Central/Everly's school board, administration, faculty and families have been in constant communication while planning for this week for nearly half a year. It has been five months since school was last in session for in-person class. The entire district is ready and willing as they excitedly welcome back the students and their families, keeping the Maverick spirit and optimism high as school bells ring in a new CC/E school year.
