Between the Covers discussing ‘Being Mortal’ Sept. 29

Between the Covers members will gather on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m., in the front room of Hartley Public Library.

Members are asked to enter through the front door, masks are encouraged and social distancing will be observed.

This month the discussion will center on Atul Gawande’s “Being Mortal,” a book whose purpose “shows the goal is not a good death but a good life – all the way to the very end.”

“Gawande, a practicing surgeon, addresses this goal,” according to Litlovers.com. “He offers examples of more fulfilling models for assisting the infirm and dependent elderly, and he explores the varieties of hospice care to demonstrate that a person’s last weeks or months may be rich and dignified.”

You are invited to join a stimulating discussion as participants delve into these topics and more this month. Books can be picked up at the library. For more information, call (712) 928-2080.
