In their final meet before the conference and state-qualifying events, the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn cross country teams traveled to Otter Valley Golf Course on Oct. 8 to run the George-Little Rock/Central Lyon Invitational.
Madison Otto led the way for the girls, finishing 14th and earning a medal. Also running girls' varsity were Lexi Croatt, who finished 42nd, Hailey Grotluschen in 45th and Juliana Pasillas in 46th.
In boys' JV, Bryce Dodge finished 32nd, George Vargas was 44th, Mitchell Meyers was 45th, Gavin Faulkner was 47th and Connor Pasillas finished 50th.
The H-M-S middle school teams had a successful night as well. The boys finished second in the team standings, only two points out of first place.
Leading the middle school boys was eighth grader Ryan Grotluschen, who finished eighth. Shortly behind him were eighth graders Blaine Finster in 11th and Aidan Bush in 12th. Eighth grader Damian Dodge finished 19th and seventh grader Camden Ball finished 20th.
In the girls' middle school race, eighth grader Kamryn Ebel earned a medal, finishing ninth. Eighth grader Gracie Knobloch finished 21st, seventh grader Jozlynn Torres was 30th and seventh grader Dakota Van Beek finished 33rd.
H-M-S hosted the War Eagle Conference meet on Oct. 12 and is preparing for their state-qualifying meet on Oct. 22.
