Letters: 'Demeaning comments' to H-M-S board members regarding mask order unnecessary

To the editor:

We as board members should not have had to make this very difficult decision. It could have been made by the governor, public health, or the mayor and his city council. They all decided to pass the buck to the school board.

I would have to say I am quite disgusted with some members of this community for the language in emails and demeaning comments on social media towards the school board members. Being on the school board is a commitment that none of us take lightly, and to say that we have no empathy is just wrong! Instead of bad-mouthing us, maybe you should thank us for all the good things we have done for our school district. That would be the Christian thing to do.In the future, if you don't have a positive comment, maybe keep it to yourself.

My father asked me why I wanted to run for the school board and said that I could never make people happy with any of the decisions we make. He was absolutely correct! I suggest that if you don't like the job this board is doing, the next time a position opens up, you can run and maybe you can please everyone. Good luck!

Scott Heetland,

H-M-S school board president,

Hartley
