Mildred Martena Klett, the daughter of Marten and Anna (Bleeker) Roskens, was born July 15, 1922 on the family farm north of Everly. She attended grade school in Waterford Township and later graduated from Everly High School in 1940. That summer she attended Buena Vista College and received her teaching certificate. Mildred taught country school for three years.

Mildred married Donald Klett on March 7, 1942 in South Sioux City, Neb. and together they lived on a farm northwest of Everly. In 1960, they purchased the Roskens farm. In 1990, Mildred purchased a Green Acres home and moved there from Dec. 6, 1990 until 2014 when she entered Riverview Terrace Assisted Living in Spencer. When they could no longer meet her needs, in 2019 she moved to Northshire Residence until the time of her passing.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church north of Everly until the church closed in 1993, when she transferred her membership to Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Mildred taught Sunday school, played for church services and was service chairman of the Ladies Aid. She also volunteered at Northshire Residence for several years. Mildred loved to garden, bake and sew quilts. She was so thankful she shared the grandchildren’s graduations and marriages. She loved her great-grandchildren.
