Virginia E. Garner, 85, Los Angeles, Calif.

Virginia Ethelyn Garner, 85, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, Calif., on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020. A private graveside service was held on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas, Texas.

The daughter of Wilhelm and Ethelyn Andrie Lorenzen, she was born on Jan. 29, 1935 in Hartley, where she also grew up. After graduating from Hartley High School in 1953 she pursued an airline career with American Airlines in the 1950s and 1960s, working in reservations and as a stewardess.

Virginia (Ginny to her friends) met Billy Garner, of Lampasas, Texas, working at American, and on June 17, 1961 they were married. They lived in cities such as Dallas, Texas, Detroit, Mich., and Alexandria, Va. before settling in Miami, Fla. where they raised their family. She enjoyed volunteering at her church, bowling, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Wilma and Avis.

Survivors include her sons, James Garner, of Golden, Colo.; and Kelly Garner and wife, Laurel, of Los Angeles, Calif., and their children, Abby and Ryan.
