Casket bearers were Travis Santage, Mattie Larson, Emma Larson, Ethan Huberg, Kate Holtz, Tyler Prescott, Amber Leonard and Caleb Huberg. Interment was in Willow Creek Cemetery at Royal. Warner Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
Loueen Sylvia Huberg, daughter of Merrill and Ruth Smith Mohr, was born Oct. 11, 1937 in Spencer. Loueen grew up on the farm south of Spencer and attended the country school. She graduated from Greenville-Rossie.
After graduation, Loueen married Charles Huberg on June 5, 1955, at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. A year later, twin boys Gary and Greg were born. Ten years later, daughter Lori joined the family and nine years after that Amy was born. Loueen’s biggest joy was her family, their love for each other and their times together.
Besides being a busy mother, Loueen taught Bible school, served on church council, was an officer in circle and a long time member and officer of the Altar Guild of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. Serving the Altar Guild was a personal joy and loving duty of hers. She was a board member of the Royal Library, along with being an avid reader. Loueen was also a member of the Royal American Legion Auxiliary and a member and president of the Federated Club. She helped Lori teach at the Town and Country Preschool and then took it over. Loueen also helped her son, Gary, at The Prime Rib in Royal with hosting and salad making duties.
As her children and grandchildren became involved in 4-H, her main job was not the animals. Instead, she was the person who made sure there were plenty of food and clean shirts, and the job of keeping everyone ready to show. In between all of this she had a large garden and many flowers.
Loueen passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her father, Merrill; mother, Ruth; husband, Charles; brother, Richard; daughter-in-law, Cheryl; and grandsons, Justin and Heath.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Gary Huberg, of Spencer; and Greg Huberg (Tina), of Potomac, Mont.; daughters: Lori Larson (Jerry), of Spencer; and Amy Holtz (David), of Royal; six grandchildren: Amber, Caleb, Mattie, Emma, Ethan and Kate; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Shaddox, of Montana; and many other family and friends.
