Okoboji/H-M-S crowned two individual champions and finished second as a team at the Nighthawk Invitational at Rock Valley on Saturday, Jan. 16.
Dylan Jones placed first at 120 pounds and Caden Larue won the 145-pound title. Earning runner-up finishes were Bryce Sehman (113), Ryan Pyle (132) and Noah Strantz (152).
A pair of wrestlers from H-M-S finished third while another placed fifth.
Bryce Dodge won his initial match in the 160-pound bracket by fall over Isaac Van Beek, BH/RV, 3:23; lost by fall to Rylan DeGroot, Western Christian, 3:41; and won the third-place match by fall over Van Beek, 2:52.
Nick Bronstad lost his semifinal match at 285 pounds by fall to Cael Moffatt, Akron-Westfield, 3:09; pinned Noah Jansma, Western Christian, 0:32; and won the third-place match by fall over Lucio Vazquez, BH/RV, 0:53.
Chayton Faulkner placed fifth at 170 pounds. He won his quarterfinal match by fall over Brandon Elbers, BH/RV, 2:37; lost by fall to Jacob Van Der Brink, BH/RV, 1:04; lost the consolation semifinal by fall to Carson DeYoung, MOC/FV, 1:15; and won the fifth-place match by fall over Elbers, 1:21.
Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley won the team title with 237.5 points. Okoboji/H-M-S finished second with 164, MOC-Floyd Valley was third with 162.5, Akron-Westfield was fourth with 154 and Western Christian scored 113.5.
