Reitsma signs with ILCC net program
Ava Reitsma, a senior at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, will join the Iowa Lakes Community College volleyball program for the 2021-22 season.
"I chose Iowa Lakes because it is a unique community college that offers sports, music and an education program," she said. "I am very excited to be a student-athlete at Iowa Lakes and participate in their high caliber volleyball and music programs."
Reitsma began her high school volleyball career at Western Christian High School and played the last two years at H-M-S. She has also played AAU club ball.
"I first saw Ava play this past August and we began the recruiting process immediately. It was evident that Ava was a force on the floor, a versatile hitter and a team leader," said Laker coach Mike Turnbull. "I am glad she has decided to join us. She will be an outstanding addition to our program and will be a great fit in the Laker community on and off the court."
In addition to earning multiple letters, senior captain and team awards during her high school career, Reitsma has also participated in basketball, softball, concert choir, jazz choir, concert band, jazz band and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
"Ava is a great young lady and I'm anxious to see her take volleyball to the next level," said H-M-S coach Cheryl Kroese. "As a senior, Ava was a team captain and served as a versatile player. She loves the game and works hard not only to make herself better, but also those around her."
Reitsma plans to major in Education at Iowa Lakes.
