• Arrest made in Hartley

Hartley police arrested an Oelwein man following an incident that occurred at a residence on Feb. 25.

According to the authorities, a Hartley woman returned to her home at midday and found that the back door of the residence had been kicked open. Police conducted a search of the house and found the woman’s estranged husband hiding in the home’s crawl space. A search of the man subsequent to his arrest allegedly discovered an article of the woman’s undergarments in his pocket.

Joshua Evan Moore, 41, was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, a class D felony; Stalking, an aggravated misdemeanor; Criminal Mischief-4th Degree, a serious misdemeanor; and Criminal Trespassing, a simple misdemeanor.

• Charged with felony, misdemeanor in Sanborn

A Sanborn man faces felony and misdemeanor charges following an incident that occurred in Sanborn on Jan. 30.

Records state that Nicholas Koontz, 30, was accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s house in Sanborn at approximately 1 a.m., and allegedly making unwanted physical contact with her while she was asleep.

Koontz was charged on Feb. 17 with Burglary-2nd Degree, a class C felony, for breaking into the residence, and Assault, a misdemeanor, for unwelcome contact. A warrant for Koontz’s arrest was issued on Feb. 19 and he was taken into custody on March 4. He posted bond and was released. He will appear in court on March 23.
