Lynn Ann Golden, daughter of Warren LeRoy and Lee Joan (Wood) McIntosh, was born Nov. 6, 1952 at LeMars. She spent her youth in the Cleghorn area, attending school there and graduating from Meriden-Cleghorn High School in 1971.
She furthered her education at Westmar College in LeMars and received her Master’s degree from Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, S.D.
On July 2, 1976, Lynn was united in marriage to Monte Steven Golden at the Presbyterian church in Cleghorn. The couple moved to Paullina where Lynn was employed as a teacher at South O’Brien schools. In 1981, they welcomed their daughter, Cari, to the family and Lynn continued teaching, easily blending her career with caring for her home and family.
In the summer, the family looked forward to camping at Lake Okoboji, just spending time with relatives and friends. While Lynn thoroughly enjoyed digging in the garden and tending her flowers, she was always ready for a good game of cards. After a 33-year teaching career, Lynn retired. She and Monte relocated to Primghar to be closer to their first grandchild, Jaxsen. Lynn took on substitute teaching jobs at South O’Brien and spent time with her grandson whenever she could.
When Cari and her husband, Josh Rieck, settled in Hartley, Lynn and Monte moved there as well, not to miss a minute with their little grandson and new granddaughter, Jazlyn. Along with South O’Brien, Lynn added Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn to her substitute teaching roster. She valued the opportunities she had at the schools and treasured the quality time she had with her grandchildren.
Five years after moving to Hartley, Monte and Lynn decided to make Arnolds Park their permanent home. They enjoyed the “lake life” and having Josh, Cari, Jaxen and Jazlyn spend weekends there, boating, swimming and fishing. Lynn’s life was complete, being a dedicated teacher and surrounding herself with the love of her family.
On Monday, March 8, 2021, Lynn moved to a new life at the age of 68 years, four months and two days. Preceding her were her parents, Warren and Lee McIntosh; and her grandparents: John and Martha McIntosh, and Victor and Alta Wood.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Monte Golden, of Arnolds Park; daughter, Cari and Josh Rieck; grandchildren: Jaxsen and Jazlyn Rieck, all of Hartley; other relatives and friends.
