Easter egg hunt planned in Hartley
An Easter egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 3 at 10 a.m., at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley.
All children ages 0-10 are welcome. Participants will be divided into age brackets, with special prizes awarded in each division. Bring your basket or sack to collect eggs.
Park at Grace Fellowship Church (formerly Hartley United Methodist Church). Attendees will also have a chance to get their pictures taken with the Easter bunny.
Chamber hosting Cabin Fever Golf
The Hartley Chamber of Commerce is bringing back Cabin Fever Golf. The event will be held on Friday, April 9 from 4:30-7 p.m., at various local businesses.

Trinity Beef Supper is April 7
Trinity United Church of Christ will hold its annual beef supper on Wednesday, April 7 from 5-7 p.m. It will be drive-through only.

Open house at Everly Public Library
In conjunction with National Library Week, the Everly Public Library will be holding an open house on Friday, April 9, beginning at 5 p.m. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
The staff is excited to share the changes that have been made at the library and invites everyone to attend.
Ladies night out in Sanborn
The Sanborn Chamber of Commerce and Sanborn Hardware are hosting a Ladies Night Out on Thursday, April 8 from 5-8 p.m.
The event will be held at Yesterday’s Memories Museum with a food truck and vendors. A succulent planting is also planned.

Adopt a Pot in Hartley
The Adopt a Pot program will once again return this spring in Hartley. Participants can contribute to the beautification effort in a variety of ways, be it through the donation of time, money, both or one.

Upcoming programs at Hartley library
Teen game day will be held at the Hartley Public Library at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7. All teens are welcome.
The Hartley Writers Group will meet at the library at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 8. All writers are welcome to attend.
Lecturer Chad Lewis, who travels the globe in search of the strange and unusual, will present “Bizarre History of Iowa” in the back room of the library at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13.
Also on April 13, the Virtual Nature Conservation Book Club will be discussing “The Overstory” by Richard Powers over Zoom, at 7 p.m. To join and receive an invitation, contact [email protected].
After school program April 12 at HPL
Hartley Public Library will be holding an after school program for children in elementary school (TK-fourth grade) from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 12, at the library.
Pre-register by Sunday, April 11. Space is limited so stop by the library during regular hours or email [email protected] to register.
Children are required to wear a mask. They will be bussed from the school to the library. Please alert the library to any allergies your child has, as well as who will be picking your child up after school.
April pick forvirtual nature book club
O’Brien County Conservation Board and the Hartley Public Library are proud to offer a virtual book club that will focus on nature and conservation.
A variety of books, both non-fiction and fiction, have been chosen to discuss in a virtual platform from the comfort of your own home. This book club will meet on the second Tuesday of every other month at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Discussion questions put together by Hartley Library Director Heather Skoglund will help lead the conversation.
It is hoped this exciting reading opportunity will increase your love for the outdoors, connect you to others who are also passionate about reading and conservation efforts, and spark quality conversations. The 2021 monthly book pick schedule can be found at http://www.prairieheritagecenter.org.

Blood drive April 5 at Southpark Mall
LifeServe Blood Center is conducting a blood drive at Southpark Mall, 901 11th Street SW in Spencer, on Monday, April 5, from 12:30 p.m.-6 p.m.
Appointments are required. Donors who do not have an appointment will not be able to give blood. Donors should pre-screen themselves for fever prior to appointments and must wear a mask for the duration of their appointment. Those who do not have masks will be provided with one.

Expanded hours at Royal library
The Royal Public Library has expanded its hours. New hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 3-5 p.m .; and Tuesday and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Due to COVID-19, the library will remain locked. Please call (712) 933-5500 or knock at the door during open hours. Social distancing practices will remain and masks will be required.
Food pantry at Hope Lutheran
Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Mondays, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Please knock on the church door and food will be brought out to you.
