• Arrested after short pursuit near Royal

Samuel Seivert, 43, of Royal, was arrested following a short pursuit that occurred on March 29, at approximately 4:50 a.m.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that a deputy was doing stationary patrol near Royal when he observed a 2009 Dodge Challenger turn westbound onto 410th Street from 150th Avenue. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the 1400 mile of 410th Street for a traffic violation. The driver failed to pull over and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle finally pulled over in the 600 block of Church Street in Royal and Seivert was taken into custody.

According to the report, it was learned that Seivert was barred and suspended in Iowa and also did not have current registration or insurance for the vehicle. He was transported to the Clay County jail where he was charged with Driving While Barred, Driving While Suspended (two charges), Eluding, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, Operating a Non-registered Vehicle and Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device. He was held in jail until his appearance before the magistrate.
