Mixed results in opening girls' golf meets

H-M-S loses twice in WEC play; 2 individuals medal

Hinton defeated Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, 204-221, to win a War Eagle Conference girls' golf meet on April 6 at Sanborn Golf and Country Club.

Elise Haack finished fourth on the leader board with her round of 50. Emily Sindt fired a 53, Darby Mastbergen and Kinsey Schirmer each finished with a 59, Elle Mastbergen shot a 61 and Emma Schmillen finished with a 64.

The Hawks' only JV player, Alexis Grover, shot a 61.

Hailey Rosenbaum and Mia Fleckenstein each carded a 49 to lead Hinton.

H-M-S hosted a conference girls' meet at Sanborn on April 12, losing to Unity Christian, 206-228.

Emily Sindt finished fourth on the leader board with a 55. Elise Haack was one stroke behind at 56, Elle Mastbergen shot a 58, Darby Mastbergen and Kinsey Schirmer each finished with a 59 and Megan Ten Kley added a 62.

The Knights' Laura Beltman shot a 44 to earn top medalist honors.

Junior varsity scores for H-M-S were: Alexis Grover 70, and Emma Schmillen 72.

The Hawks' meet on April 8 at MMCRU has been postponed to April 30. They are scheduled to play at West Sioux on April 15 and at Akron-Westfield on April 19. The girls will also host Cherokee in a non-conference meet on April 20.
