Seventeen 5-6 grade Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Middle School students were recently included in Northwest AEA's annual publication, Harvest. The magazine highlights student work from across northwest Iowa.
All literacy students in Angie Mayer's class submitted original writing to her, which was either a short story or a poem. Mayer also allowed them to submit a drawing or other artwork.
"I have some amazing artists in my classes," she said.
A panel of H-M-S teachers chose the best-of-the-best, and those pieces were submitted to the NWAEA. Of the 17 students selected for publication in Harvest, Kenadie Van Loon had two of her drawing entries accepted, making it a total of 18 examples of H-M-S students' work included in the anthology.
