CC/E playground upgrade underway

Things are beginning to take shape as the Clay Central/Everly Elementary playground in Royal gets a much-needed facelift.

The old equipment was recently removed. Soon, existing pea rock will be pulled back where the new gear will be placed and graded to level things off. This second step should be completed by the end of the week. Once the ground is level, the district will give word to the playground equipment company, which will install the equipment before the 2021-2022 school year begins.

The new setup will include a new swing set, tire swing, obstacle course with climbing equipment and a RoxAll seesaw.

Playground equipment was paid for by physical plant and equipment levy (PPEL) funds and an $11,815 donation from the CC/E Booster Club. Additional funding may be acquired in the near future from the Maverick Pop Fund, which will be determined by the school board at its upcoming June meeting. Additionally, the district will happily accept further donations if community members are looking to help the cause.
