Charlotte M. Peterson, 93, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Graveside services for Charlotte M. Peterson were held Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. John Jensen officiated.

Pallbearers were Greg Walstrom, Brian Overton, Keith Kruse and Scott Rinehart. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. Warner Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Charlotte Marion (Walstrom) Peterson, the daughter of Walter and Carrie (Hagedorn) Walstrom, was born on Sept. 27, 1927 on a farm near Royal in Clay County. She attended a rural school and graduated from Rossie High School in 1945. She worked at Binak’s Grocery in Royal before going to Mankato Commercial School. She then returned to Royal and was the head bookkeeper at the Quaker Oats elevator.

On Jan. 26, 1963, she married William Nelson Peterson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. She moved to Kenmare, N.D. and was engaged with William in farming for 29 years until their retirement. Her faith was very important to her being a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and then as a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church at Kenmare. Over the years she participated in altar guild and taught Sunday school and confirmation classes.

Upon William’s passing in 2012 she moved to Spencer to live with her son, David. In 2017, David and Charlotte moved to Sioux Falls S.D. She lived all of her last years with David except for the last two weeks of her life.

Charlotte passed from this life on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the age of 93.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: David and Mark (Deb); granddaughters: Alexandra, Samantha and Mackenzie, all of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister, Marjorie Frad; sister-in-law, Beverly Walstrom; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Walter and Carrie Walstrom; brother, Venard and his wife, Lucile; brother, Virgil; sister, Darlene Petitt and her husband, Bud Pettit; and brother-in-law, Bobby Frad.
