Darrell Strampe, 81, Lenexa, Kan.

Darrell Strampe, 81, of Lenexa, Kan. and formerly of Hartley, passed away at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan. on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. Visitation will be held at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel from 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, with family present at that time. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. The Hartley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Darrell Strampe was born June 18, 1940 in Hartley, to Marvin A. and Gladys Opal (Milz) Strampe. He graduated from high school in 1958. Darrell married Barbara Lou Tschopp on Nov. 5, 1961 in Hartley. He earned his B.S. degree from Mankato State in Minnesota. They lived in De Soto, Kan. for 32 years, moving to Lenexa six years ago. Darrell worked as a salesman for PraxAir Industrial Gas Co., retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Olathe.

Growing up he was involved in 4-H, FFA and high school athletics. As a father he helped with 4-H, county fairs and horse shows, and was a Little League booster. Darrell enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating and horseback riding. He was a devoted father and husband, and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Michael Glenn Strampe.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; children; Steve and Tammy Strampe, of Enterprise, Ore .; Matt and Susan Strampe, of Austin, Minn .; and Hope and Joe Hattesohl, of Aliso Viejo, Calif .; and nine grandchildren.
