Funeral services for Elaine A. Struve were held Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, with Pastor Mark Wilms officiating.
Casket bearers were Kyle Vogt, James Vogt, Keith DeBoer, Steven Steinbeck, David Steinbeck and Dennis Steinbeck. Honorary pallbearer was Jacob Dobbins. Interment was at Lincoln Cemetery in rural Rossie. Warner Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
Elaine Anna Struve, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Williams) Steinbeck, was born April 4, 1925 in O’Brien County. Her childhood years were spent in Hartley where she received her education, graduating from Hartley High School. Elaine appreciated growing up on the farm and helping her dad with some of the chores. She later continued her education at Sioux City School of Beauty.
Elaine married Gordon Struve on Dec. 29, 1946 in Hawarden. She was self-employed as a hairdresser for several years and was also a school cook for 21 years. She was a past active member of the United Church of Christ in Rossie until it closed. She enjoyed golfing and bowling long into her later years.
She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at the age of 96. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon, in 1997; a daughter in infancy, Karen Kay; her daughter, Rhonda Dobbins, in 2014; one son, Monte Struve; a daughter-in-law, Ann Struve; five brothers: Wayne, Leland, Donald, Keith and Garland; a sister, Evelyn, and her husband, Vernon Kruse; and a sister-in-law, Ann Steinbeck.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandra Dolphin, of Hartley; one son, Roger Struve, of Rossie; two grandchildren: Jessica Ann Dobbins and Jacob Aden Dobbins; a sister-in-law, Donna Steinbeck, of Hartley; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
