Carol Leslie, 90, Katy, Texas

Carol Leslie, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at the age of 90.

Preceding her in death are husband of 68 years, Clarence Leslie; her parents, Charlie and Florence Warren; and siblings, William and Elenoar Warren, Ivan Perry, Arthur and Mardell Warren, Lester and Eleanor Warren, and Bill Biedenfeld.

Carol is survived by her children, Kit and Leann Leslie, Robin and Ed Myers and Rick and Lisa Leslie; grandchildren, Jacob Leslie, Nathan Leslie and Jennifer and Craig Godwin; great-granddaughter, Ali Godwin; siblings, Lois Perry and Nora Biedenfeld; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was born in Sioux Township, Clay County on Aug. 23, 1931, to Charlie and Florence Warren. As a young woman, Carol was a Girl Scout and was in a 4-H club for eight years including serving as county president for Clay County. Carol spent a lot of time helping on her family farm especially during World War II when her siblings were deployed. She also worked many summers picking corn on local farms.

On March 7 1951, she married Clarence Leslie, a member of the U.S. Armed Services. Carol worked in retail until she began her family in 1955 when she had Kit Leslie. Carol and Clarence had two more children, Robin and Rick, over the next six years. Carol spent many hours sewing, gardening, canning and caring for her family. One month prior to their 69th wedding anniversary, Clarence passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Carol remained in their Katy, Texas home independent until her final days.

Carol called Spencer and Cherokee home, but also spent many years in Hibbing, Minn., Camdenton and Springfield, Mo., and finally Katy, Texas. Carol and her daughter, Robin, operated a successful wholesale craft business for many years. Carol has always enjoyed painting, crafting, creating and working with her hands. She taught many painting classes and also taught a class on trunk restoration. She has been a lifelong Methodist church member and was active in many church functions.

Carol treasured time spent with her family including summers with the grandchildren at their Lake of the Ozarks home, and eventually getting to watch her great-grandchild before and after school in Katy.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Katy Magnolia Cemetery with Chaplain Daniel Schramm officiating.
