The H-M-S Giving Tree recently landed a sizeable contribution from Fiesta Foods.
The local grocery store held a casual Friday fundraiser, where employees could pay a donation to wear jeans or other less formal attire. Store owner Casey Connor also pitched in some cash to get the donation to triple digits.
The H-M-S Giving Tree project collects gifts during December and distributes them to needy families in Hartley, Melvin, Sanborn and May City. Ornaments with wish lists are available for pick up at Iowa State Bank and Sanborn Savings Bank in Sanborn; Treimer's Insurance Agency, United Community Bank and Savings Bank in Hartley; and JR's in Melvin. Wrapped gifts are due back by Dec. 10.
