• Strikes telephone box in Primghar

A telephone box and a sign were damaged during an accident on Jan. 9 at 7:07 p.m., at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and 3rd Street Southeast in Primghar.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, a 2008 GMC Acadia driven by Carlos Hernandez Hernandez, 24, of Primghar, left the roadway and struck a sign and a telephone box near the Primghar Fire Department. The report stated Hernandez, who was not injured, was “highly intoxicated.”

Damage estimates were $3,000 for the Acadia, $500 for the telephone box owned by The Community Agency, of Sanborn, and $100 for a traffic sign.

Hernandez was jailed and charged with OWI-1st Offense, Reckless Driving and No Valid Driver’s License.
