Services in memory of Billie Ann Schuett were held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford. Father Brian Hughes officiated.
Pallbearers were Bob Nitz, Eric Nitz, James Nitz, Kyle Schuett, Daniel Schuett and Sam Jennett. Honorary pallbearers were Jonathan Schuett, Ethan Schuett, Jesse Schuett, Nicole Schuett Jennett, Mikayla Schuett and Natalie Schuett. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery at Milford. Warner Funeral Home in Spencer assisted with the arrangements.
Billie Ann Schuett, the daughter of Raymond and Helen Epping Kriens, was born Feb. 16, 1932, near Hartley. She received her early education and graduated from Moneta High School in 1950.
On Nov. 28, 1953, Billie married Clayton Schuett at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal. Following their marriage they lived in Hartley until 1965. They moved to Cherokee where they raised their four children who all graduated from high school in Cherokee. They also had a home at the lakes for several years, making it their permanent home in 1989.
Billie worked in the clothing business for 40 years. She started her career at The Fashionette in Cherokee. When they moved to the “lakes” she owned her own store, Billie’s Fine Fashion, until they started spending the winters at Palm Springs and then Myrtle Beach. When she returned to Iowa each spring, she continued working at Fashion Formula for 14 years until she retired. She also organized and participated in weekly fashion shows at The Inn, the annual Catholic Daughters Fashion Show and others in the area. Billie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford where she also belonged to the Catholic Daughters, Beta Sigma Phi in Cherokee and at the lakes, Red Hat Society and Couples 500 Card Club going on 60 years.
Billie passed away on Jan. 11, 2022, at Lakes Regional Healthcare at the age of 89. She is preceded by her parents; infant brother, Ronald Lee; five brothers-in-law: Paul Galm, Eddie Hilbert, Darrell Hennings, Darwin Schuett and Merle Schuett; sister-in-law, Elsie Schuett; and seven nieces and nephews.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clayton Schuett, of Spirit Lake; four children: Ramona (John) Nitz, of Cherokee; Michael (Patti) Schuett, of Fort Mill, S.C.; Mark (Julie) Schuett, of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; and Tom (Becky) Schuett, of Adel; 11 grandchildren: Bob (Elspeth) Nitz, Eric (Tyler) Nitz, James (Kara) Nitz, Jonathan (Alyssa) Schuett, Ethan Schuett, Jesse Schuett, Nicole (Sam) Schuett Jennett, Kyle Schuett, Mikalya Schuett, Daniel Schuett and Natalie Schuett; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Colleen Hennings, of Hartley; and Delores (Ray) Ransom and Peggy (Tom) Muhlbauer, of Milford; two brothers: Merlyn (Norma) Kriens, of Royal; and Ken (Harry) Kriens, of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law: John (Becky) Schuett, of Milford; Margaret (Murl) Grimberg, of Paullina; Linda Schuett, of Sheldon; and Shirley Gibbs, of Omaha, Neb.; many nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
