CC/E students hit their PBIS badge goal last week and earned a popcorn and movie event to celebrate.
Clay Central/Everly's students have been hard at work earning badges for their PBIS program.
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports and is a system that many schools utilize to promote good behavior, positive social actions/reactions and safety within the classroom and school. PBIS implements strategies of how to deal with certain situations, educates on how to prevent escalation of conversational or emotional issues that may arise, and helps in providing an outline of what the expectations are for each child within the school. PBIS's main focus is in the prevention of behavioral issues and building quality moral and ethical character in and outside of the classroom vs. punishment of poor conduct or behaviors.
CC/E students were given a lofty goal of achieving 1,200 badges for the month of January. Badges are given by staff members to children following the Three R's: Being respectful, responsible and ready. The students took this challenge and ran with it, achieving their badge goal for January with ease.
Clay Central/Everly's newly-appointed student council chose this month's reward, which was a short movie, popcorn and candy after recess last week.
Next up the children will strive for 1,400 badges in February.
