Grant fills need at Everly Public Library

The Everly Public Library recently received a generous grant through The Pilcrow Foundation. Located in Oregon, the foundation was founded in 2013 with the mission of providing new, quality, hardcover children's books to rural public libraries across the United States.

With the generous donations from the Pilcrow Foundation and the Friends of the Everly Public Library group, the library was able to select over $800 in new books for the children and middle grade sections of the library. The facility also received two special donations through this program: $400 worth of math and science books were donated through the foundation by Mr. Hal Berenson and Mrs. Laura Ackerman, of Colorado, and additional 13 books relating to health and wellness were donated by Drs. Bill Strawbidge and Meg Wallhaden, of California.

According to Christie Seivert, programming director at the Everly library, this collection of books was greatly needed.

"Our children and middle grade sections of the library have been the ones in the most need of updating," she said. "We have recently started doing monthly activity bags for our patrons and the new book selections have made it exciting for the kids."

Seivert noted the library would not be able to offer patrons the quality book selection and program with out support from the community.

"We would like to thank the Friends of the Everly Public Library group for their continued support, not only with their monetary support but also with their willingness to help with programs and projects," she said. "We are excited for the new things to come in 2022."
