Casket bearers were Alex Kwikkel, Kyle Boeve, Jacob Noonan, Jake Mazanec, Jack Ihry, Max Ihry and Connor Ihry. Honorary bearers were Chris Keegan, Jared Ihry, Mike Bandstra and Mike Van Veldhuizen. Interment was in Willow Creek Cemetery at Royal. Warner Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
Florence Julia “Fluff” Ihry, the daughter of Francis and Angeline (Donovan) Sweeney, was born Feb. 14, 1928 in Sutherland. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Sutherland where she received her education, graduating from Sutherland High School in 1946 as Valedictorian. After her schooling she continued her education at Briar Cliff College for two years.
Fluff married John “Jack” Ihry on Jan. 14, 1950. Following their marriage they lived in Royal for five years before moving to their home place west of Royal where they lived for many years and raised their family. They moved to Royal in 1990. Fluff was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal. She played organ at the church for years in Sutherland and Royal. Fluff was Mayor of Royal for many years.
She passed away at Aspire of Sutherland Care Center on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at the age of 93. Fluff was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; son, Jeffrey; five siblings: Marjorie Ramsey, Paul Sweeney, Cathy Wann, Dorothy Sweeney, and Frances in infancy.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jane (Tom) Senst, of Pine Island, Fla.; Jill (Lane) Johnson, of Sioux City; Joni (Terry) Murphy, of Clermont, Fla.; Juli Kwikkel, of Storm Lake; Jeri (Kevin) Boeve, of Rock Valley; Joye (Jim) Noonan, of Bondurant; and Jason Ihry, of North Branch, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Angela Huy, of West Des Moines; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
