Services for Muriel L. “Myrt” Boyles will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, with Pastor Dan Taylor officiating.
Pallbearers are Wes Schoorman, Ben Boyles, Ryan Reed and Josh Overbeck. Interment will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in rural Everly. Warner Funeral Home in Everly is assisting with the arrangements.
Muriel “Myrt” Lorraine Boyles, the daughter of Ralph Elmer and Muriel Nesta (Shoemaker) Roberts, was born Jan. 13, 1927 at Reinbeck. Her childhood years were spent in Everly where she received her education, graduating from Everly High School in 1945.
Myrt married Delbert “Dub” Boyles on Feb. 22, 1946, in South Sioux City, Neb. They lived the rest of their lives in Everly where Muriel worked several jobs including Morgan Hardware Store, waitress at Molly’s Café, a cook at the school lunchroom in Everly, Froelich’s grocery store and at the Everly city scale. She was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Myrt also was involved in the Boy Scouts and AMVETS, and helped with the American Legion. She also enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.
Muriel passed away at Longhouse Residence on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert “Dub” in 2012; her son, Delbert “Shannon” in 2008; and a sister, Gwen Strickland.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Allen Boyles, of Everly; four grandchildren: Jodi, Benjamin, DeDe and Jessie; six great-grandchildren: Kaleigh, Kya, Delaney, Lincoln, Jayde and James; one brother, Gerald (Peggy) Roberts, of Spencer; other relatives and friends.
