Last Legion fish fry is this Friday

The American Legion Family of Arthur W. Kirchhoff Post #288 will host its third and final fish fry on Friday, April 8.

Omelet brunch planned for trail

The Hartley Rec Trail Committee will host an omelet brunch and bloody Mary bar on Sunday, April 10 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at the Hartley Community Center.

Hartley clean-up day

The City of Hartley has released rules for spring clean-up day, which will be held on Monday, April 25.

Residents are asked to follow the rules regarding disposal of materials. See the ad on Page 3 for more details.

Food pantry at Hope Lutheran in Everly

Current hours for the food pantry at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly are Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m. Everyone is allowed to come in and pick out their food, but masks are required.

Local Easter egg hunts planned over next 2 weeks

Three community egg hunts are planned in Hartley, Everly and Royal this month.

Royal: Royal Community Action will host the first local egg hunt on Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m., in Royal City Park. Kids ages 0-12 are invited, and everyone will get a chance to meet the Easter Bunny during the event.

Hartley: The hunt will be held at Community Memorial Health Center and is co-sponsored by the facility and I.E.F Club, as well as other local businesses. The event is slated for Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m. Participants are asked to park in the Grace Fellowship parking lot.

Children ages 0-10 will be divided into age brackets, with special awarded prizes in each bracket. Hunters should bring a basket or sack to collect eggs.

Everly: Everly’s big hunt will also take place on Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m. The event will be held at Everly Community Park and is for kids age 10 and under. The Clay County Countrymen 4-H Club and the Everly Lions Club are co-sponsoring the event.

Friday, April 8: Breakfast – Donut, fruit, juice; Lunch – Cheese pizza, romaine salad, cherry tomatoes, apples.

Monday, April 11: Breakfast – Cereal, muffin (9-12), fruit, juice; Lunch – Mini corndogs, baked beans, cucumbers, peaches.

Tuesday, April 12: Breakfast – Egg/cheese biscuit, fruit, juice; Lunch – Turkey/cheese bun, chips, broccoli/cauliflower, applesauce cup.

Wednesday, April 13: Breakfast – Breakfast tornado, muffin (EL), fruit, juice; Lunch – Nachos, lettuce, baby carrots/celery, bread (9-12), bananas.

Thursday, April 14: Breakfast – Donuts, fruit, juice; Lunch – Ham, mashed potatoes/gravy, cooked carrots, roll, bread (9-12), pears.

Friday, April 15: No School – Holiday.

Milk served with each meal. Fruit/veggie bar offered daily.

Board member to discuss resource management

Join the O’Brien County Conservation Board for Conversations with Conservation on Thursday, April 7 at 5:30 p.m. This adult-focused series will be held at the Prairie Heritage Center.

Conversations with Conservation will focus on learning about a different topic each month with a guest speaker who is passionate and knowledgeable about their topic. April’s speaker will be Conservation Board Director Travis Scott. He will discuss natural resource management and the history of conservation in the state of Iowa.

The presentation will begin shortly after 5:30 p.m. O’Brien County Conservation hopes that this series will help you fuel connections with others interested in learning and having great conversations about the world around us.
