Joann K. Rozema, 88, of Marshfield, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center.
Joann was born on April 1, 1934 near Hartley, the daughter of Clarence and Mabyl (Bryant) Bobzien. When she was 1-1/2 years old she was raised by Neva and Martin Decker. She went to country school and graduated from Hartley High School in 1952, and worked at Sheridan's Variety Store in Primghar for several years.
She married Henry Rozema, of Sanborn, on Dec. 31, 1955 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, and to this union four children were born. They farmed north of Sanborn for 24 years. In 1979 they moved to Wisconsin to continue dairy/farming until their retirement. Henry passed away on May 30, 2018.
She worked in Marshfield at Figi's, Kris's Sidewalk Café, the Marshfield News Herald and also at the Kickapoo Cheese Plant in Sherry, Wis.
Joann enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, cake decorating, knitting, crocheting, country music, polkas and hymns. Her family enjoyed her angel food cakes, bread, cinnamon rolls, Bismarks and glazed doughnuts.
Joann is survived by her children: Yvonne (Mark) Ledeboer, Jay (Marcy) Rozema, Neda Rozema and Rene Rozema; five grandchildren: Jason Ledeboer, Erick (Amanda) Ledeboer, Krista (Andrew) Spencer, Kamie (Chris) Pupols and Alyssa (David) Shedivy; eight great-grandchildren, Ellie, Ava and Charlotte Shedivy, Olivia Pupols, Rowan, Desmond, Lincoln and Oscar Spencer, and Alice Ledeboer; siblings: Jon Bobzien, Darrel (Janet) Bobzien, Gary (Pat) Bobzien and Gale Bobzien, a sister-in-law, Florene Bobzien; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Neva and Martin Decker; her siblings, Clarence Bobzien, Jr., Karen Bobzien (in infancy), Ila Hurtig, Joyce Dunn, Mary Giep, Gaylord Bobzien and Gaylen Bobzien (twins), and Sheryl Bobzien; and a grandson, Nathan Rozema (in infancy).
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, April 9, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield, with Rev. Douglas Robertson officiating. Burial took place on Friday, April 15 at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
