Serving O'Brien & Clay Counties
Last Thursday the Clay Central/Everly Elementary band and choir students put on a rockin' good time at their 50's and 60's themed Spring Fling concert.
The concert theme was "Cruisin' Down Memory Lane – A Flashback to the 50's and 60's." Fifth and sixth grade band students started off the evening walking the audience through classics like "Claire De Lune" and "Mix and Match/Putting It Together." Following the band's performance came the kindergarten and first grade classes who "rocked" the crowd with hits like "Rock Around the Clock" and "Rockin' Robin." Next up were the second and third graders, pumping out favorites like "Shake, Rattle, and Roll," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," and "All Shook Up." Rounding out the performance were the 4-6 graders who belted out Neil Diamond's "I'm a Believer" and crowd favorite "Stand By Me."
Midway through the upperclassmen's lineup, they sang the tune "The Little Old Lady (from Pasadena)." As their beautiful lyrics lofted through the gymnasium, a spiffy pink cardboard convertible came rolling around the Royal gym with three sassy old ladies inside! The students were quite surprised by this arrival and could barely keep it together as their teachers (dressed as the little old ladies) went cruisin' around the bleachers as the entertainment throughout their performance.
As the "groovy" evening came to a close, staff and sixth graders came out with flowers and praise to highlight their music teacher, Crystal Bunge, as this will be their final performance with her before they move onto middle schools elsewhere next year.
Special thanks were given to pianist Mrs. Lourene Vail and all of the CC/E staff who helped make this flashback fling "Outta Sight!"
