CC/E students donate to Ukraine

Clay Central/Everly Elementary students have been on a self-started mission to give. Ever since the war erupted in Ukraine, CC/E students have felt a stirring within to do more and help as much as they can. Together the student body helped to raise $360.67 through their penny drive. All raised monies will be given to UNICEF.

Local Girl Scouts honored

Girl Scout Troop #10528 met last week at the Royal Community Building for its annual awards ceremony. Children and families enjoyed a 9-foot sub as they were each celebrated for this past year's achievements.

The trio received a trophy for their efforts. Certificates were also handed out throughout the evening for children who set good examples, helped others and were kind.

CC/E preschool Class of 2022

Clay Central/Everly held its preschool graduation program last Thursday. The program started with parents and children enjoying a banana and donut breakfast in the lunchroom. The program then moved to the preschool classroom where teachers and students went through their typical daily routine to show the parents/guardians in attendance. Children then sang numerous songs for the audience before a story was read aloud. Following story time, the children and teachers led the way to the outdoor Nature Learning Center.

Here the children lined up for some frigid yet fun attempts at breaking the candy filled shark piñata. Once the pinata was empty, the crowd headed back inside for the actual graduation ceremony. Children were awarded different certificates noting their special qualities throughout the school year. Following the graduation ceremony, everyone headed back to the lunchroom for pizza and conversation before heading home.

The NEW Cooperative Foundation showed its commitment to supporting local 4-H youth by donating $50,805 to 22 counties totaling to be 3,387 individual 4-H members. The money was donated for half of each 4-H youth's dues in NEW Cooperative's trade territory, which includes Clay, Cherokee and Dickinson counties, among many others.

"NEW Cooperative takes extraordinary pride in supporting our area youth 4-H programs. We strongly feel that 4-H helps these youth build the foundation to become future leaders in our local communities," said Holly Reicks, NEW Cooperative Communication Specialist, in a news release. "We are excited for them as they gain all the valuable skills and knowledge the 4-H program offers."
