Gov. Reynolds visits Northwest Iowa Community College

Northwest Iowa College in Sheldon recently hosted a very important guest.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds stopped by the NCC campus on June 6 to tour the recently-constructed Applied Technology Building and the Diesel and Automotive labs. The tour showcased a few of the Accelerated Career Education-funded campus building projects, credit and non-credit programs funded through the Employer Innovation Fund, Summer Youth Internship funded through the Future Ready Iowa initiative, and some of the Concurrent Enrollment programming within the Applied Technology Programs.

The governor toured the new labs with NCC administration and board of trustees President Adam Besaw. She also met with students and instructors from the Diesel Technology and Automotive & Light Duty Diesel programs. She took time to shake the students' and instructors' hands and ask them questions about their programs.

"We were excited to show the governor these newer areas of the college that have increased NCC's capacity to train skilled workers in northwest Iowa," said NCC President Dr. John Hartog in a news release. "As we continue to build partnerships...our students and northwest Iowa will experience the benefits and outcomes of these essential cooperative relationships."

Reynolds was on the Sheldon campus as part of her 99-county tour.
