Hartley Valero plant No. 1 in United Way donations

Valero Renewables raised a total of $435,460 for United Way agencies across the Midwest. For the second year in a row, Valero Renewables – Hartley came in first place with a total of $46,613 raised in a United Way competition among Valero's 12 ethanol sites.

The Hartley plant designated Upper Des Moines Opportunity (UDMO) as its charity to receive the $10,000 first place prize. UDMO is dedicated to helping build stronger communities by addressing the effects of poverty on individuals and families. Key facts about Valero Renewables – Hartley:

• More than $389,000 contributed to the United Way of Spencer through employee pledges, additional donations and company matches since 2017;

•$145,000 from the Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children to local charities over the last five years;

• More than 5,800 hours volunteered by Hartley plant employees supporting local charities from 2017-21.
