Marion Jacob Roghair, the son of Jacob and Mary (Rozeboom) Roghair, was born Oct. 20, 1930 in Maurice. His childhood years were spent in Sanborn where he started school until his family moved to a farm just outside of Hartley, where he continued his education. He entered the military in November of 1951 and served with the U.S. Air Force until his honorable discharge in November of 1955.
Marion married Shirley Buhrmann on Aug. 16, 1953 in Royal. After their marriage they moved to a farm west of Royal where they raised their family and farmed for many years. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal for many years until they moved to Spencer in 1995 and attended the First English Lutheran Church, where he continued to be an active member until the time of his death. Farming was his passion and he loved to see the fruits of his labor every fall. Over the years he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, bowling, participating in dartball league, spending time with his family at church and at the lakes, and enjoyed attending many of his grandchildren’s games and activities.
He passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at the age of 91. Marion was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers: John and Ronald Roghair, and Jacob Roghair in infancy.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley, of Spencer; two sons and their wives: Rick and Vickie Roghair, of Hartley; and Randy and Alice Roghair, of Royal; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: William and Shirley Roghair, of Mountain Lake, Minn.; and Glen and Janice Roghair, of Spencer; other relatives and many friends.
