CC/E board discusses club funding

The popularity of after-school clubs at Clay Central/Everly has the school board mulling funding options.

TAG/Reading instructor Lisa Roti gave an update Sept. 28 outlining extracurriclar programs offered at CC/E. Participation has increased during the past two years alongside the number of activities made available to students.

Roti suggested the school ask sponsors to donate money towards the purchase of items for these clubs. Those who contribute will help ensure these activities thrive by providing items like writing and art materials, snacks, and sporting equipment. Current clubs and activities include: Youth Writers Club, soccer, basketball, Art Club, Family Fun Nights and more. All are led by teachers with an interest in each subject area.

The board fielded Roti's suggestion as informational and took no action on the matter.

In other business, Director of Student Services Michelle Huntress reported PK-6 enrollment is at 72 for the 2022-23 school year. Safari Child Care & Preschool, which began offering services in the Royal building this fall, has 11 children enrolled. Part-time slots will be opening soon as well.
