Courtney Engeltjes, 29, Everly

A funeral service for Courtney Engeltjes and her newborn daughter, Kasey, was held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn, with Rev. Mark Ellens officiating. Memorial Funeral Horne in Sioux Center assisted with the arrangements.

Courtney Beth Engeltjes’ life ended too soon as the result of a car accident along with her unborn daughter, Kasey Renea, on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022.

Courtney was born to Mike and Carmen Vande Stroet (Teunissen) on Dec. 8, 1992. Courtney graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in 2011. She attended Northwest Iowa Community College for an Associate of Arts degree in Business and later completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

She married her best friend, Trevor Engeltjes, on Sept. 6, 2014, and together had four children. They made their home near Sioux Center for five years and then moved to a farm near Everly.

Creative at heart at only 29 years old, Courtney had found her passion in photography. But her true joy in life was her children, farming with her favorite farmer, Trevor, and having great conversations with everyone she knew. Courtney loved camping, country music, and cherished spending time with her family and friends. Courtney’s quick wit and authentic, caring nature made her a joy to be around and well loved.

She is survived by her husband of eight years and best friend, Trevor Engeltjes, and four children, Collin, Weston, Paisley and Alayna; parents, Mike and Carmen Vande Stroet; three sisters: Jenna (Zane) Waring, Michaela Vande Stroet, and Hannah Vande Stroet and special friend, Levi Metzger; brother, Reid Vande Stroet and special friend, Ashlie Saavedra.; father-in-law, Arlin Engeltjes; mother-in-law, Lynn (Lloyd) Webb; two sisters-in-law, Amanda Wink with fiancé Carleton Monroe, and Megan Engeltjes with fiancé AJ Hanson; brother-in-law, Alex Engeltjes, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Janet Teunissen.
