New postmaster takes over in Hartley

Wyman has 3 decades of USPS experience

Hartley's new postmaster is getting used to a whole new work environment.

Nicole Wyman began her new role in Hartley Oct. 1 after spending the past 30 years carrying mail in Spencer. She succeeds Belinda Eppling, who served the local post office for less than a year before moving on to another position.

"I was interested in this job to serve customers better, because I enjoy working with the public," said Wyman. "It was an opportunity to take a chance and move up the ladder."

Prior to joining the postal service, Wyman served an administrative role in the U.S. Air Force from 1987-91. After that, she took a temporary job with the post office that gradually grew into a three-decade career.

So far, Wyman has been getting accustomed to the duties of her new office job.

"I love working with people and always have," she said. "I'm definitely still in training mode, but it's been great otherwise. I'm learning how to tackle the role of postmaster and getting the hang of it."

Wyman has one grown son who lives in Minnesota. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, exercising and photography.

"I'm really looking forward to getting to know people here and working with the people of Hartley," she said.
