• Charged with sexual abuse

A criminal complaint filed by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office alleges that Steven Eugene Hattig, 42, of May City, sexually assaulted an individual on multiple occasions. It is also alleged that the victim is a vulnerable adult who is not able to give consent.

Hurtig was arrested on Nov. 3 and charged with Sexual Abuse-3rd degree, a class C felony.

• Accused of theft at Pride Group

Neal Lynch, 23, a resident of the Pride Group near Primghar, is accused of stealing a lawn tractor from the facility. A complaint filed by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office alleges that Lynch entered a shed without permission and took a 2001 John Deere 2305 lawn tractor from the building without consent.

The report states that Lynch admitted to entering the building by opening an overhead garage door and then driving the tractor off the property through a field before becoming stuck in a waterway.

Lynch was charged with Burglary-3rd degree, a class D felony, and Operation Without Owner’s Consent, a misdemeanor. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 29.

• Injured in collision

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reported that two vehicles collided at the intersection of Highway 59 and A34, at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 4.

The report states that a 2014 Chevrolet pickup driven by Ethan Adams, 24, of Hartley, was southbound on Highway 59 when a 2022 Lincoln SUV driven by Arion Sandbulte, 84, of Sioux Center, which was eastbound on A34, stopped and then proceeded into the intersection. Sandbulte did not see Adams’ pickup, which struck the Lincoln on the driver’s side. It came to rest in the east ditch and the pickup stopped on the highway.

Adams and Sandbulte were transported by Sibley Ambulance to Osceola Regional Health Center. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $10,000. Sandbulte was cited with Failure to Yield from a Stop Sign. The Melvin Fire Department assisted at the scene.

• Vehicle lands in creek

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident which occurred at 4 p.m. on Oct. 9. According to the report, Michelle Lynn Couldren, 63, of Paullina, was southbound in the 4100 mile of Polk Avenue when she swerved to miss a deer that ran onto the road. The 2006 Ford Expedition went off the roadway and down into a creek, where the front of the vehicle was submerged.

Couldren was not injured. Damage to the Expedition was estimated at $1,600.
