The H-M-S Giving Tree recently landed a sizeable contribution from Fiesta Foods.
The local grocery store held a casual Friday fundraiser, where employees could pay a donation to wear jeans or other less formal attire. Store owner Casey Connor also pitched in some cash to up the donation even more.
The H-M-S Giving Tree project collects gifts during December and distributes them to families in need throughout Hartley, Melvin, Sanborn and May City. According to Giving Tree organizer Jenna Hemiller, all available gifts for children were adpoted by Dec. 3 this year. The gift drive will serve 48 kids from 16 families ranging in age from newborn to age 18. Wrapped gifts are due back by Dec. 9.
