Classifications for postseason boys’ winter sports have been announced by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
For boys’ basketball, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn is the largest school in Class 1A based on the Basic Educational Data Survey (BEDS). Two students separate H-M-S, with an enrollment of 164 in grades 9-11, and Boyden-Hull, the smallest 2A school with 166.
Other War Eagle Conference schools in Class 2A are Hinton, West Sioux and Unity Christian. Akron-Westfield, Gehlen Catholic, Harris-Lake Park, MMCRU, South O’Brien, Remsen St. Mary’s and Trinity Christian are classified as 1A schools.
H-M-S is also a Class 1A school for postseason bowling competition. MMCRU and West Sioux are in Class 2A.
