Boys bowl best score of season to top OABCIG

The best pin total of the season lifted the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys' bowling team to a win over OABCIG on Feb. 7 at Locomotion Lanes in Sanborn.

The Hawks faced tough competition against OABCIG, but were able to earn the victory in the final meet of the regular season. Their pin total was 2780 while the Falcons finished with 2698.

Individual scores were Riley Russell 223-170, 393; Jack Mastbergen 177-212, 389; Drew Prins 190-191, 381; Dawson Niichel 189-176, 365; Skyler Shaffer 170-168, 338; and Marcus Aaron 138-160, 298. Baker game scores were 149, 203, 195, 155 and 212.

The H-M-S girls fell short of a seasoned OABCIG team, 1758-1938. Scores for the Hawks were Meghan Larson 131-161, 292; Jordan Lux 141-130, 271; Keyanna Brower 133-104, 237; Annika Overmire 82-126, 208; Lexi Croatt 83-91, 174; and Destiny Olvera NA-109, 109. Girls' baker game scores were 126, 130, 94, 105 and 121.

H-M-S also had a JV boys' team. Individual scores were Owen Tifft 162-153, 315; Aiden Nitzel 140-172, 312; Caleb Aaron 145-150, 295; Owen Haspels 153-125, 278; Brennan Stoltz 126-127, 253; Brett Stoltz 119-111, 230; Dominic Tripp 102-125, 227; and Austin Smith 115-98, 213.
