• Arrested twice

Cameron Shuck, 33, of Primghar, was taken into custody at 3:30 a.m. on March 8 at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on an active warrant for Violation of Sex Offender Registry-2nd or Subsequent Offense. Bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Shuck was also taken into custody at the sheriff’s office at 5:54 p.m. on March 10 on an active warrant for three counts of Violation of Probation. Bond was set at $8,000 cash or surety.

• Ordered to be jailed

Eduardo Ransaure-Jacome, 28, was taken into custody at 2:42 p.m. on March 7 at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested on an active warrant for a seven-day mittimus and held in jail with no bond.

• Several charges filed after accident

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was called at approximately 6:11 p.m. on March 4 regarding a vehicle in the ditch in the 3900 mile of 225th Avenue. Upon investigation it was determined that Jose Alejandro Rangel Rojas, 35, of Spencer, drove a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox LT into the west ditch.

According to the report, Rojas was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the Clay County Jail where he was charged with OWI-3rd Offense, a class “D” felony; Driving While Revoked, a serious misdemeanor; Failure to Have a Valid Driver’s License and Failure to Provide Security Against Liability. He was also given a warning for Failure to Maintain Control. He was held at the jail awaiting his initial court appearance.

Rojas was not injured. Damage to the Equinox owned by Jose Bernado Rangel-Rangel was estimated at $4,000.

• Charged with driving under suspension

Christopher Fields, 41, of Spencer, was stopped for a traffic violation in the 2300 mile of Highway 18, at 5:28 p.m. on March 10. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that he was found to have a suspended driver’s license.

Fields was transported to the county jail where he was charged with Driving Under Suspension, Operation Without Registration and No Insurance, all simple misdemeanors. He was released on bond.

• Collide at intersection

Two vehicles collided at an uncontrolled O’Brien County intersection at 4:30 p.m. on March 16.

According to the report, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Judith Elaine Meyer, 69, of Granville, was westbound on 420th Street when it entered an uncontrolled intersection. A 2021 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Kevin Lee Stamer, 50, of Hospers, was southbound and also entered the intersection, where it was struck by the Meyer vehicle.

The report stated that Meyer sustained a small cut near her right eyebrow but refused medical attention at the scene. Stamer was uninjured. Damage estimates are $25,000 for the Silverado and $15,000 for the Grand Cherokee.

• Vehicle is total loss

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that Armond Williams, 34, of Spencer, was driving northbound in the 3900 mile of Highway 71 at 9:48 p.m. on March 5 when a deer entered the roadway. Williams swerved to miss the animal, causing the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee to lose control and enter the east ditch, where it struck a tree and came to rest.

Williams sustained a minor hand injury but refused medical attention. The Grand Cherokee owned by Floridania Santos is considered a total loss.

Williams was cited for Failure to Have a Valid Driver’s License.
