Royal Lions mark 5 decades of service: Royal Lions Club members Don Helmkamp (left) and Dennis Johnke (right) were honored at the April meeting for 50 years of Lions Club servitude and membership. During their time with the Royal Lions Club, the organization has helped to donate thousands of dollars to the CC/E school district, Royal community events and fundraisers, Royal Fun Days, hundreds of pairs of glasses to children through the Lions Club Kidsight foundation, and much more.
Four reach milestone blood donations at Hartley drive
Donors came out in force during the blood drive conducted in Hartley on April 26. According to LifeServe Blood Center, 44 persons registered, including one first-time donor. The 49 blood products collected have the potential to save 147 lives.
Those reaching milestone donations were: Darrel Dodge, 21 gallons; Rachel Meendering, five gallons; Elisha Orthmann, two gallons; and Roxanne Graves, one gallon.
The next blood drive in Hartley is scheduled for June 28.
Kleins welcome baby boy
Walker Boone Klein was born to parents Kevin and Vanessa Klein, of Hartley, on April 17, 2023.
Walker weighed 7 lbs. He was welcomed home by big brother Knox and sisters Paisley and Harper.
Grandparents are Alan and Lori Erichsen, of Hartley, and Larry and Sissie Klein, of Ashton.
